Leading a “yogic” life

The word yoga means “to join”.  Join your body, mind, spirit.  So, what does it mean to lead a “yogic” life?  What does it mean “practicing yoga”?  Yoga is more than an exercise.  It is being balanced and flexible in your life, as well as your body.  Understanding its roots, history and principles will drastically reduce stress in one’s life and lead you to a peaceful and balanced life.  This seminar will teach yoga principles and how to incorporate them into modern life.  Learn to integrate these principles into one’s life or deepen and nourish a lifestyle already being lived. Deeper understanding of this lifestyle will help deepen your daily “strength” practice, calm your mind chatter and create a “whole” body experience in your everyday class.  Fee $35.00 per person.

yoga etiquette

signing in

We require all new students to register prior to taking a class. If you are new, please arrive 15 minutes prior to class to register. Once you become a new student, you will need to sign in and pull your card prior to each class. In addition, please try to avoid walking through the middle of the studio with your shoes on.

Injuries or limitations

Always keep your teacher informed of any injuries of illnesses you are experiencing. Always get your physician's approval before engaging in physical activity such as yoga.

Eating

Please try not to eat a heavy meal 2 hours before a class. A light snack (fruit) is appropriate up to 30 minutes prior to class.

Water

HYDRATE! Drink plenty of fluids through the entire day. Bring water to class.

Clothing

Wear comfortable clothing, choose clothes that breathe well.

Listen to your body

Although a teacher is leading your through poses with examples and verbal guidance, listening to your own body is required for a safe yoga practice. If at any time you feel dizzy, nauseated, lightheaded lie down on your mat and rest. Try not to leave the class and change your body's temperature drastically. Once you feel better, rejoin the group in the next posture.

Yoga is not competitive

Leave your ego at home! You are a unique and beautiful person. Each one of us comes with a different set of skills. Respect your skills and your level. Yoga is a gift you are giving your body. Have fun, enjoy and welcome having the gift of many years on this earth to grow and advance your postures.

Mats

Please bring your own mats. We offer complimentary mats for new students. In addition, you can buy a mat. It is best for cleanliness to have your own.

Health and Hygiene

Please be respectful of others if you are not feeling well and use this time to stay home and rest. If your body needs to heal an injury, wound or illness please respect your body. We will see you back when you recover!
